This week, Indonesian leader Prabowo Subianto thought he was having a confidential discussion with American leader Donald Trump at the Gaza peace summit in Egypt.
However, a hot-mic incident revealed Prabowo requesting Trump to arrange a call with his son Eric, who serve as executives at the family business.
This was just one in a series of missteps made by world leaders when they assume they're off the record.

Transplant Procedures and Everlasting Life
During a defense ceremony in Beijing this September, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russia's head Vladimir Putin were overheard discussing organ transplants as a approach for extending lifespan.
"Human organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the more youthful you get, and you can even reach eternal life," Putin's interpreter was heard saying.
Xi, who was off camera, answered in Chinese: "Experts forecast that in the current era people may live to 150 years old."

'Water Lapping at Your Door'
Former Australian immigration minister Peter Dutton came under fire in 2015 when he joked about the plight of residents in the Pacific facing ocean encroachment.
Dutton was conversing with then-prime minister Tony Abbott, who had recently come back from environmental talks with Pacific Island leaders in Port Moresby.
Observing how a meeting about refugees was running on "delayed schedule", Abbott replied: "There was a bit of that up in Port Moresby."
Dutton commented: "Schedules become irrelevant when you're about to have water lapping at your door."
These remarks sparked outrage from regional nations and environmentalists, while the political opponents demanded Dutton to apologise.

'Prejudiced Voter'
As Labour prime minister Gordon Brown was on the trail in 2010, he faced a constituent who challenged him on immigration and the economy.
Remaining connected to a broadcast microphone when he entered the car, Brown was recorded stating: "That was a disaster – they should never have put me with that individual. Who thought of that? Ridiculous."
Asked what she had said, he answered: "All topics, she was just a prejudiced person."
The scandal received extensive coverage for weeks and Brown ultimately lost the political race.
'I Cannot Bear Netanyahu. He Lies.'
Former US president Barack Obama was in discussion at the G20 summit in Cannes in 2011 with France's leader Nicolas Sarkozy when their comments about Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu were captured by a live microphone.
Sarkozy said: "I cannot bear Netanyahu. He's a liar."
Per a account from a French interpreter cited by Reuters, Obama replied: "You've had enough but I have to deal with him frequently than you."
'Major League ***hole'
A classic hot-mic moment from former White House hopeful George W. Bush happened as he made a negative comment about a reporter from The New York Times.
The GOP candidate was didn't realize that a microphone was live when he leaned over to Dick Cheney at a political event and remarked, "There's Adam Clymer, complete jerk from the New York Times."
Cheney answered: "Absolutely, he is, big time."
