I can't bank on a three-year period at Manchester United - the United boss

The Manchester United coach - here being consoled following May's European final loss - states he is happy by the co-owner's extended support but emphasized that the future is unpredictable in football.

United's manager Ruben Amorim thinks it is important Sir Jim Ratcliffe openly discussed his extended perspective - but notes nothing is assured about the future in the sport, let alone three years.

During a discussion with a leading newspaper last week, the co-owner said it could take the manager three seasons to produce meaningful results at Old Trafford.

Emerging in an era when the manager's position has been under scrutiny following an extended sequence of disappointing results, the statements assisted in calming certain present tensions.

Yet, discussing prior to the centenary clash with old rivals Liverpool at Anfield, the United boss underscored that what comes next is challenging to anticipate in football.

"It's truly positive to receive that message but he informs me all the time, periodically with words after games - but recognize, I know and the co-owner recognizes, that soccer doesn't work that way," he commented.

"The crucial element is the upcoming match. Even with owners, you cannot dictate tomorrow in soccer."

Top executive Omar Berrada has admitted it has taken significantly extended periods for Amorim to acclimate to the English top flight following his move from his former club in November than any person expected.

Manchester United have achieved 10 victories in 34 Premier League matches during Amorim's tenure. They still haven't achieved consecutive league victories and didn't complete a round of league games during this campaign above ninth position.

The worrying figures are stretching belief in the manager among the Old Trafford faithful approaching a run of games their club has been awful in for the last couple of years.

The manager stated he isn't experiencing the instability internally at their training facility and is adamant nothing equals the expectation he places on the team - and in some senses, he would prefer Sir Jim to refrain from seeking to create tranquility because he fears the influence it may create on the squad.

"It's not just a thing that people talk about, I experience it each day," he said. "It's certainly beneficial to receive it because it helps our fans to comprehend the leadership understand it will require a period.

"But at the same moment, I dislike it because it generates a sense that we possess time to solve problems. I don't desire that impression in our club.

"The stress I place on the squad or upon myself is considerably larger [compared to external sources]. In football, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove your value every matchday."
