Three people have been killed and a minimum of nine individuals were injured in the most recent Ukrainian strike on the Russian frontier area of Belgorod, according to regional authorities.

The fatalities occurred after an attack on the Maslova Pristan settlement early on Wednesday, authorities reported. Emergency workers were continuing to search for people suspected to be buried under wreckage.

This marks the third straight day that Ukraine has targeted the area, causing numerous residents without power and at least two other people killed.

Series of Attacks Lead to Harm

Wednesday's series of missile and drone strikes damaged homes, transportation and power lines in various areas of Belgorod, per information from government communications.

Sources published images from the village depicting a sports centre with its roof and walls destroyed, and mentioned that response teams were clearing debris and evaluating the destruction.

In the nearby town of Moshchenoye, six individuals - including a child - got hurt when missile and drone hit a vehicle, while an individual sustained injuries when a vehicle was targeted in Masychevo.

Electrical Failures Affect Thousands

The strikes follow two days of similar attacks that have caused blackouts and infrastructure destruction in the city of Belgorod and nearby regions.

Close to 40K individuals were affected by power cuts across multiple districts, as reported by authority reports.

Broader Context of Hostilities

Ukraine has dramatically increased the quantity of strikes targeting Russian petroleum plants in the past few months, causing petroleum deficits and expense hikes in various areas of Russia.

No fewer than twenty-one of the nation's key petroleum plants - in which petroleum is processed into usable fuel like automotive fuels - have been hit since January, significantly more than as during the whole of 2024.

Persistent Warfare

At the same time, Russian attacks on Ukraine are continuing. Ukraine's air force said on Wednesday its air defense systems eliminated or disabled 154 drones, but 22 struck targets in 11 locations.

Remnants of downed aircraft started blazes and damage to civilian infrastructure.

A minimum of five persons were dead in the past days when Russian forces launched five dozen projectile weapons and around 500 drones into various areas of the country.

Energy Infrastructure Facing Danger

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentions Russia is once more attacking the country's power systems before the cold season and has revealed extra monetary resources to restore affected installations and develop a backup supply of equipment to restore power supplies.

"Regardless of numerous difficulties, we must support the areas presently experiencing the toughest situation," he stated.
